The 7th Conference of the CUCS (Coordinamento Universitario per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo, Italian University Network for Development Cooperation, a network that includes 30 Italian Universities) is jointly organized by the University of Naples Federico II (www.unina.it) and the University of Naples “L’Orientale” (www.unior.it). It will be held in Naples on 21st – 23rd April 2022.

This Conference originates from the academic world, and addresses all the actors of international cooperation, with a particular attention to young people and students. It aims at promoting the construction of networks, mutual exchanges, the synthesis of experiences and concepts, developing innovation, and disseminating knowledge through the mechanisms and procedures of Open Science. The North and South of the world have to face together the challenges of the sustainability of cities, of land and food, of climate and health, of oceans and inland waters, of energy, etc., in the new context of the multipolar world and the so-called Industry 4.0 in the pandemic and post-pandemic eras.

Universities, together with all the agents of development cooperation, intend to increasingly strengthen the dialogue and confrontation between the North and the South of the world in a framework where knowledge is co-planned and shared. They aim to promote and implement strategies, policies and actions, starting from the three pillars of their activities: research, training, and knowledge-sharing or third mission, in order to “strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development” (Goal 17 of the SDGs).
